Emery Hope

Kim became one of my first friends when I started a new school in 6th grade. I’m grateful for her friendship and was ecstatic to have her ask me to take her maternity photos. I’m so happy for Kim & Bobby as they embark on this new road of parenthood. My inspiration for this photo shoot was their baby girl’s name, Emery Hope. Her name is so pretty, and I wanted make the photo shoot reflect that. I wanted to create a dreamy and elegant look, and that was easy to do thanks to Kim & Bobby’s color palette and the country scenery. You forget how peaceful the Louisiana countryside is until you take a little adventure out there.

Matthew’s Senior Portraits

More senior portraits! I’m happy to mix things up a bit. I don’t photograph  guys often, but I’m extra grateful when I get the chance to. Matthew has a sharp, classy style that paired well with the country setting. (Check out his website, www.ePreppy.com!) He brought me to the coolest school campus. Everywhere I looked was an interesting spot. I  freaked out in excitement when I saw the opportunity to use a yellow school bus as a background prop, and I loved how clever and cool it turned out. The style of his portraits gave off a maturity that you often see in high school seniors who are ready to take on the many blessings the world has to offer!

Lake Martin Bird Sanctuary

I’m proud to say my first visit to Lake Martin was a success! I’ve always heard how beautiful it was, and it became the perfect, romantic setting for senior portraits. The cypress trees were still bare from the winter, but it was a a great contrast to Madeline’s angel face. I’m happy that she chose Lake Martin as her location. Her senior portraits allowed the beauty of lake to shine through her photos and created something unique to southern Louisiana. And as challenging as it was to narrow down, here are my absolute favorites from her session. Hope you enjoy!

Mr. & Mrs. Smith Wedding

Feast your eyes on this charming, December wedding. Everything about it was nostalgic as it looks. This is exactly why I love weddings near Christmas time. The bride planned everything fabulously. The wedding and reception, held at the 1100 Room in City Club at River Ranch, exuded an effortless glamour with gold and red accents. It was admirable in every way, and it was evident in the faces of every guest. My favorite part was probably having the groom’s “first look” at his bride on the balcony from the Carriage House. It played out like a sweeter, Christmas-y version of Romeo & Juliet with a much better happy ending.

A Newlywed Christmas

Taking Christmas photos for a family that involves a baby or a pup is so much fun. That moment you finally catch the baby or pup looking directly at the camera is to die for. I enjoyed every bit of taking photos for the gorgeous couple: Brooke & Trevor. They are recently married and decided to send out their first card as a family for Christmas. It was my first time trying out the hanging ornaments in the background, and I’m quite impressed at out it turned out. This certainly won’t be the last!

Christmas at UL Alumni Center

I got my fair share of Christmas shoots this year, and it’s probably one of my favorite shoots to do since Christmas is my favorite holiday. I took these at the UL Alumni Center. I find the variety of landscape is perfect for family photos.

This is Joanne & Tu with their sweet baby girl, Mila, who was 2 months old. I loved the shot of her being kissed under the mistletoe by her parents. It’s the sweetest thing. This was their first Christmas photo as a family, and I was so happy to help. Merry Christmas, you guys!

Winter Proposal in Houston

My cousin, Jimmy, contacted me a few months ago with some very big, unexpected news. He was going to propose to Jennifer! This gave me a rush of excitement because he had us all fooled that it would be a while until he was able to pop the question.

He chose the day before Jennifer’s birthday to ask her to marry him. The location was in midtown at Baldwin Park in Houston, TX. It was a quiet park with rows of romantic, oak trees. Being a hopeless romantic, he had a vision and he went with it. On the day before her birthday, she was taken on an adventure by close friends that was disguised as “birthday surprises”. All the while Jimmy was working hard at setting up the decorations.  I enjoyed capturing this beautiful memory of theirs and loved the fact that I was able to witness Jennifer’s surprised face when she saw Jimmy! So achingly sweet!

You can view some photos of their sweet proposal below. There will be a video coming soon!
